All homes in the area were destroyed. Only a small number of brick homes were left standing but no roofs survived.
People made shelters out of whatever they could find.

Fransisco is telling Janet about the night of the cyclone, how he and his family fled their home, running for shelter which they could not find. Here he had no home but has since build a new one.

In May materials for rebuilding houses begin to arrive.
